What Is Hot Tub Calcium Hardness?

Calcium hardness is one of the important spa and hot tub water chemistry parameters and its control is important to help ensure proper water quality.

Calcium hardness is a measurement of minerals in your water including calcium and magnesium.

Low levels of calcium can lead to possible corrosive water conditions that can be damaging to your jets, your heating element and the shell itself.

High calcium hardness levels can lead to possible cloudy water and scaling conditions. It can build up on your jets, the acrylic, in your filter and on your pump. OUCH!

The right range is between 150 – 250. Once the level is balanced at time of a fresh fill, it shouldn’t shift much. Calcium hardness levels can be determined by a simple water analysis in our state-of-the-art in-store lab.
